It will be argued here that Paul’s (misplaced) pre-Christian basis of confidence before God included his obedience to the law.
This article will examine in particular the problems that this verse raises with respect to: (1) the basis of Paul’s confidence before God, and (2) universal human sinfulness and inability to keep the law.
